Our Story

After being in public accounting, private finance, and analytics for nearly a decade I noticed some shortcomings in the offerings of many accounting firms. One was that having a CPA didn’t always equate to superior accounting. Many CPA firms focus primarily on tax services while neglecting bookkeeping. The problem is, if garbage goes in, garbage come out. Anything based off the bookkeeping, such as financial statements and business income taxes, cannot be relied upon if the bookkeeping is poor. As the foundation of all your business finances, your books need to be complete, accurate, and compliant to accounting standards, or GAAP, to be of real value.

Another way in which accounting firms are lacking is in not offering high level financial analysis. Producing clean financials is one thing, but being able to interpret the data, draw conclusions, find trends, spot problem areas, provide insights and recommendations, and help with financial planning are skills that can give a company the edge in being able to improve and grow their operations.

Traditionally, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions have been reserved for large organizations with dedicated finance teams and significant resources. Small and medium-sized businesses often lack access to this level of analytical support, even though they may benefit from it just as much—if not more. AccountAlytix was founded to bridge that gap by bringing an analytical, data-driven perspective to small and medium-sized companies as well.

This will never be a service that does just the bare minimum. We strive for completeness, accuracy, and GAAP compliance. That means we ask lots of questions, in order to understand the business and its different transactions, and we try to collect all the necessary data so that we can give our clients clean financial statements. Our goal is to provide high value services above and beyond just traditional bookkeeping. Analysis and visual reports accompany all the bookkeeping work we do, no matter how small the company.

We help businesses all over the United States, and over several industries, including real estate, food & beverage, construction, ecommerce, skilled trades, professional services, distribution, lawncare & landscaping, pet care, and more. Companies that find our services valuable are heavily involved in tracking and understanding their financials. They don’t mind answering questions and appreciate our responsiveness to theirs. They tend to be looking for ways to grow, control expenses, or improve and streamline their operations. Many plan for the future through the use of forecasts and pro forma financial statements. Some have their own accountants or bookkeepers in house but need analysts to help them make sense of the numbers, explain variances, spot trends, opportunities and problem areas, track key performance indicators, and provide insights and recommendations. Some need help tracking metrics for other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, customer service, and inventory management.

We are financial and data analysts first and foremost. We just happen to be excellent accountants as well. Have a look at our portfolio and see for yourself.
